North Woodmere is located on the South Shore of Long Island, about 15 minutes from JFK Airport. Though there is no LIRR stop in North Woodmere the Gibson and Hewlett stations are approx 5 minutes away.

North Woodmere is bordered by Valley Stream, Hewlett, Woodmere and Cedarhurst.

North Woodmere is unique from the rest of the Five Towns of LI in a number of ways:

• Part of North Woodmere is located in the Incorporated Village of Valley Stream. In this way you get use of Valley Stream's Public Library and Park systems. It also utilizes the Village of Valley Stream's Sanitation Department where as the rest of the Five Towns uses the Town of Hempstead sanitation.
• North Woodmere does not have its own Post Office. The mail goes through the Valley Stream Post Office.
• Except for one small strip of stores including Annie Sez and Jerry's Bagels there is NO commercial area of North Woodmere. It is purely a residential community.
• There are no apartment buldings in North Woodmere. Single family homes are the norm.

Homes were built from the 1960's and later. North Woodmere homes are mainly Splits and Hi Ranches with a few Colonials and Splanches here and there.

The community is home to North Woodmere Park a 150-acre town park. The park has 3 swimming pools, a 9-hole golf course, 10 tennis courts, 4 handball courts, 2 basketball courts, 3 picnic areas and a  children's playground. Just south of the park is a fishing area on the west end of the inter-Woodmere creek.

Inwood is located on the South Shore of Long Island, about 10 minutes from JFK Airport. It is easily accessible by car, bus and the Long Island Railroad (LIRR).  Inwood is the first of the 5 Towns after Far Rockaway. It is home to the Inwood Country Club, a private golf club. Inwood is located in Lawrence School District 15. For Pre K, K and 1^st grade all the district children attend the #4 School on Wanser Avenue in Inwood. For 2^nd through 5^th the children would attend the #2 School in Inwood. Then it's on to Lawrence Middle School and Lawrence High School.

Recently opened in Inwood is Yeshiva Ketana of Long Island.  Yeshiva Ketana of Long Island has established itself as an institution that personifies excellence in education and personal attention for each child.  The Yeshiva's curriculum and academic programs are highly acclaimed and its graduates are actively recruited by top mesivtas.  In order to provide the optimal educational environment for the Yeshiva's current and future students, the Yeshiva purchased an approximately two- acre property located at 321 Doughty Blvd in Inwood which will be the site of the new YKLI campus.
